Abstract
Rote learning is a manner of learning which requires learners
to memorise what is taught. To rote, a person will repeat
data or information over and over. The more one repeats, the
better he or she will recall the information. There are advantages and disadvantages of rote learning. However, more often than not, rote learning seems to bring a negative connotation. It is often called mugging and parroting. And many think that rote learning may not help one be innovative and creative since rote learning improves one's memory, not the ability to innovate.
