Abstract
Everything went according to plan until the rise of Omicron earlier this year. We intended to reopen the international border as soon as possible in order to save our tourism industry, which has been halted due to the pandemic since 2020. We are all aware that Sabah's tourism industry is one of the most significant contributors to the state's national income. There are numerous places in Sabah that can be considered "magical treasures," attracting tourists from all over the world. Some of the locations in Sabah had even been mentioned in K-drama. Isn't it fantastic? But the pandemic ruined everything. Our economic growth has slowed, the number of unemployed people has increased, and some hotels have gone bankrupt since 2020, making it difficult for them to rely solely on domestic tourists.
