Abstract
Police claimed their fifth Agong’s Cup title after defending their crown with a 43-29 victory over Johor in the final at UiTM Stadium yesterday. The match was tightly contested in the first half, with Police edging ahead 19-17 at the break. However, Police dominated the second half, holding off a late Johor comeback that included two tries in the final 10 minute s. Johor ’s Serupepeli Turuva was shown a red card in the 78th minute for a high tackle, further denting their chances. Police tries came from Ameer Nasrul Zulkeffli, Taniela Senileba, Kitone Taliga and two from Hariz Hamidon, with Amirul Aqil Kamsol converting all five tries and adding a penalty. Johor ’s Keponi Paul, Akeripa Saveatama, Syarif Muzhaimey and Serupepeli Turuva crossed the line, with Fairuz AB Rahman converting two tries and adding a penalty. Police coach K. Dinesvaran celebrated his first major win as head coach, having previously lifted the Agong’s Cup as a p l aye r.
