Abstract
SHAH ALAM: Students entering Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) are selected based on merit and their meeting the conditions set, and not based on their family’s political ideology or status, says its vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar.
He said statistics showed that 65 per cent of students taken ito UiTM were from poor families, and that nearly 70 per cent of the university’s alumni of almost 600,000 were from rural areas and also not from well-to-do families.
