MIT students, lecturer for fund-raising climb

Abstract

KUALA LUMPUR, Sat. There have been walkathons and walkathons and more walkathons. But the Bachelor in Business Administration students from the Mara Institute of Technology have now organised a climbathon up Mt. Kinabalu. Their goal? To raise $175,000 through company and individual sponsorships for their scholarship and educational fund.

Any donation of $1,000 or more is entitled to a special flag bearing the contributor's name planted on the top of Mt. Kinabalu.

According to Dr. John Nirenburg, co-ordinator BBA/Ohio University programme, scaling Mt. Kinabalu is symbolic of "our need to stand on our own." "It is a test of our business-minded and en- terprising outlook," he said
