Abstract
THE Mara Institute of Technology plans to start a proficiency course in Cantonese for non-students in January.
Both part-time and fulltime classes will have a total of 30 people attending. The part-time course will be conducted over five months at the main campus in Shah Alam under the supervision of four instructors from the MIT Language Centre.
In addition to the Cantonese programme, the MIT has been conducting a Mandarin course for the last three years. Those who pass the examination will be awarded a proficiency certificate in foreign languages. A spokesman said three instructors would be assigned to the full-time learners but the MIT has yet to decide on the place for the classes.
