Abstract
INSTITUT Teknologi Mara is carrying out a new transfer exercise of older and experienced academic staff members from the main campus in Shah Alam to the branch campuses all over Malaysia.
Normally, transfers are no big deal for they have been going on for many years, but this current development is based on an apparently new policy where the older and more experienced hands who have not served at the branches are posted out there while new and inexperienced staff are kept under supervision at the main campus for at least two years.
From one perspective, it could be considered a just policy because all staff members will eventually get a chance to serve at the main campus. However, a lot of dissatisfaction and ill-feeling have resulted among the staff members as a consequence of the way in which this mass transfer exercise is being implemented.
