Civil service appraisal system must be just

Abstract

ASIDE from the much-anticipated salary review, several measures to boost the civil service productivity were announced by the prime minister last Friday. Among them was the MyPerformance appraisal system, to replace the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (LNPT). Unlike the LNPT, MyPerformance is competency- and value driven, as well as built on the principles of justice, objectivity, transparency and relevance.

Under MyPerformance, government servants will receive their annual salary increment only if they attain the minimum score and are free of any disciplinary problems. Although the details of this measure are still being worked out, we believe that the trickiest part is to make it fair and just.
