Don't kill our spirit

Abstract

WITH a new year upon us, my mind goes back to a conversation I had with my dear friend Intan a few months back. Both of us have known each other for more than a decade now, since our college and university years. But Intan took a different path, teaching at secondary level while I left for the opportunity to do research and lecture at tertiary level. Intan went through a tough time, having to deal with the pre-historic thinking of school administrators who were not supportive of her motives as a young educator. You could not blame Intan, for she is high in spirit and is the type of person who would be constantly doing something crazy. She would make my Teacher Idol list, any day.
