Facing down the mosquito threat


Abstract

MOSQUITO-BORNE illnesses such as dengue fever are a growing problem globally. Mosquitoes are actually the deadliest
insects in the world, spreading diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, West Nile virus, yellow fever and the Zika virus. These
diseases kill more than 500,000 people annually. Dengue, caused by the Aedes mosquito, is a lethal threat in Malaysia.
